Camping at Marlborough Sounds

Updated: Jan 12, 2022

On the last weekend of November, 25 of us drove over to Marlborough Sounds for a time of fun, friendship, outdoor activities and conversations. All of the internationals who came are now working in Nelson, but most of them studied at the polytech here and it was through our weekly ISM evenings that we met one another 2, 3 or even 4 years ago. Many of this group have continued to meet fortnightly for games or conversation evenings and so deep friendships have been formed.

We stayed at the Wilson’s property in beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound, which gave opportunity with the great weather on Saturday for kayaking, diving, fishing, jet boating, paddle-boarding, and outdoor games. Our discussion theme for the weekend was around the question, “How to live the best life for here now; and for the life hereafter?” and having people from Africa, Europe and many parts of Asia contributing to the discussion created very rich interactions. On Sunday morning, 6 students from the weekly discipleship group shared something from their own journey with God that they had experienced over recent times. It was such a precious time for all of us, and very impacting for those in the group who are not believers.

The weekend was filled with such happiness, lots of laughs, plenty of good food, conversations and friendship. Everyone felt so thankful to be able to have such a time together in such beautiful surroundings. We thank you all for praying for this event, and we were conscious of God’s blessing and care for us.
